Server Launch Tutorial

Below you will find the Guide for Hyperion and Helios server launch using Core and the Core App. More details on Launching Transcoding servers on Core plans can be found here.

Get Started (Core): Launching Hyperion server and Helios server.

  1. Click Server on the left menu bar.
  2. Click + Launch Streaming Server

 

After clicking +Launch Streaming Server, you will be prompted to select one of the following options:

Continue with Hyperion: Suitable for management and re-streaming of Teradek encoders,

decoders and mobile applications

Continue with Helios: Designed for 3rd party encoders and more complex video workflows

Launch a self-hosted server: Only for Enterprise accounts

Follow these three steps to configure a Hyperion Server:

1) Configure General Settings:

- Enter a Server name.

- Set up Billing: 

NOTE: On new Core plans, Egress time includes server uptime, so Hourly billed servers are Free. Such a server will automatically stop when no outbound data coming from the server (no CDN streaming, no decoders, no streaming to another server (Helios), no Core TV viewing client or client using link to pull VLC, no recording to the cloud) it auto stops the server from the timer you set up. Auto stop is done in 60 minutes max.

For customers requiring a server running full-time, regardless of whether a stream is active, a monthly billed server option is available ($75 per one billing period). Monthly server have Manual and Scheduled stop logic, more details described in this article.

- Choose the Server Deployment region.

Click Next to proceed.

2) Configure Output Settings:

-Enable Transcoding if needed. More details on Launching Transcoding servers on core  can be found here.

Enable High Network Performance option if needed. Find more details on 'High Network Performance' feature here.

Click Launch Server.

 

Follow these three steps to configure a Helios Server:

1) General Settings:

- Configure Server name.

- Enable/Disable Back-up Switching

NOTE: On new Core plans, Egress time includes server uptime, so Hourly billed servers are Free. - Choose the Input Codec (H.264/H.265).

Click Next to proceed

3) Output Settings:

- Same as input/Custom;

- Enable/Disable High Network Performance option. Find more details on 'High Network Performance' feature here.

Click Launch Server.

 

Get Started (Core App)

  1. Tap the menu bar icon on the left and select Servers.
  2. Tap the settings icon on the top-right and select Add Server.

After clicking +Launch Streaming Server, you will be prompted to select one of the following options:

Continue with Hyperion: Suitable for management and re-streaming of Teradek encoders,

decoders and mobile applications

Continue with Helios: Designed for 3rd party encoders and more complex video workflows

Follow these steps to configure a Hyperion Server:

1) Configure General Settings:

- Enter a Server name.

Tap Next to proceed.

2) Configure Input Settings:

- Choose the Input Codec (H.264 AVC or H.265 HEVC)

Click Next to proceed.

3) Configure Output Settings:

- Select Same as input or Custom (HEVC only)

- High Network Performance option.

Tap Next to proceed.

4) Summary:

- Set up Billing;

- Choose the Server Deployment region.

Click Launch Server.

 

Follow these steps to configure a Helios Server:

1) Configure General Settings:

- Enter a Server name.

- Enable/Disable Back-up Switching

Tap Next to proceed.

2) Configure Input Settings:

- Select Input Type.

- Choose the Input Codec (H.264 AVC or H.265 HEVC), if applicable.

Click Next to proceed

3) Configure Output Settings:

- Select Same as input or Custom (HEVC only)

- Enable/Disable High Network Performance option.

Tap Next to proceed.

4) Summary:

- Set up Billing (NOTE: billing per hours option includes Scheduled/Auto/Manual Stop logic

described in this article).

- Choose the Server Deployment region.

Click Launch Server.
