In order to provide our customers the best experience and high level of reliability, we decided to improve streaming via Core by adding Back-up Hyperion feature. If in the past, terminating or stopping the server would lose the device from the view and there wouldn’t be a way to bring it back until you access it locally and connect manually to another server. Now, you can select a back-up Hyperion server in advance without being worried about any possible issues with your device’s connection. The device will simply connect to the pre-selected Hyperion server after a few attempts connecting to the old one. This way, as long as your device is powered on and connected to the Internet, you don’t need to be worried about your device being offline on Core.
Compatible devices:
- Cubes 600 series;
- Cubes 700 series;
- VidiU Go.
What are the steps for setting automatic Hyperion connection?
- Upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
The most recent version you can check in your System settings on the device - > Firmware Upgrade -> Check the latest version. You can also find the latest firmware version in our Teradek Downloads section. - Connect your device to Core, click on the device and go to Settings -> Connection in the top right corner of the interface. There, you’ll see the Back-up Server Connection section.
- Select the Back-up server and click Apply.
NOTE: You have to have a second server launched in order to select it for your back-up connection.
- Wait for about one minute since you have applied settings;
- Success! You’re good to go.
Once all of the settings are applied, you can come back to your streaming flow as usual. You don’t need to worry about your device being down anymore, as in case the primary server fails, your device will automatically reconnect to a back-up one, so you won’t need to make any additional manual steps.
Prism, Prism Flex, Wave, Serv 4K don’t need this feature as these types of the newer devices have a permanent Core connection, thus, this feature is not applicable for this list.
