What is an MBN Profile?
A MBN Profile is a carrier configuration for "Home Network" carriers that loads automatically. Our chipset manufacturer has worked with these carriers to support out-of-the-box functionality and enhancements to the way the chipset works. For the user, this means that the modems may work out of the box in complex environments. This is not an exhaustive list of supported carriers, rather a list of complex
Generally, most carriers use the "Generic" profile, but if the Node detects a compatible IMSI from a SIM (say Verizon in the USA), it will change the profile and populate the appropriate APN's for the commercial configuration. While this method is helpful, it's not bulletproof due to the thousands of ways people use cellular across the world.
For example, with Verizon, users might have custom APN's for enterprise accounts and require a custom APN set in on the correct line of the Modem. Both the Prism and the Teradek Node Manager can help you with this task.
Locking or disabling MBN profiles can cause connectivity issues across certain carriers. Please contact [email protected] if you are unsure what you are doing.
