Set up Sony Camera Control by configuring the camera’s Wi-Fi, enabling Network Remote, and linking CTRL.5 to the camera. Start by setting up CTRL.5 Wi-Fi in Access Point or Client mode (see Wi-Fi Setup for Camera Control). In Access Point mode, connect the camera to the CTRL.5 network. In Client mode, connect the camera and CTRL.5 to the same router and subnet.
Configure Your Sony Camera
The following instructions were created using BURANO and FX.6, camera menus may vary slightly between the cameras.
- On the camera, go to Menu > Network > Wi-Fi Settings. Set Wi-Fi Mode to Station (Client).
- Enable Wi-Fi Power.
- Connect the camera to the CTRL.5 Wi-Fi network (e.g. CTRL.5-00056 if CTRL.5 is in AP mode).
- Open Network > Status/Info and note the IP Address assigned to the camera.
- Enable Network Remote on the Camera:
- Venice/Venice 2: Network > Network Settings > Network Remote > ON
- FX6/Burano: Network > Network Function > Network Remote > ON
- Set a username and password (you’ll enter these on CTRL.5).
Configure CTRL.5
1. On CTRL.5, click MENU and open Settings CAMERA.
2. Set Wi-Fi Camera Brand to Sony.
3. Set Camera Protocol:
- FX6
- BURANO
- VENICE for VENICE/VENICE 2
4. Enter the camera’s IP Address (from step 4 above).
5. Enter the user name and password (from step 6 above).
6. Click Connect and confirm the status shows Camera Connected (green). Open the Camera Dashboard to control the camera.

Additional Notes
- Ensure the camera and CTRL.5 are on the same subnet if using a router setup.
- Improve reliability by keeping the Wi-Fi signal strong and minimizing interference.
- Because firmware can change network settings, verify the exact menu paths in the latest Sony camera manual.
