Link 400/800 Quick Start Guide

Link is a dedicated cellular bonding hotspot. It uses either 4 or 8 internal modems along with Teradek's WAN bonding service to provided super-reliable bonded Internet access over all connections simultaneously.

Assembly and Power

  1. Attach the included Wi-Fi antennas to the Wi-Fi antenna connectors (7) or (14) and (16) depending on the model
  2. Insert any physical SIMs you wish to use into the SIM slots. Link's 5G modems also include an eSIM for use with Teradek Data.
  3. Connect power to Link using the included A/C adapter or an external battery

Get online

  1. Link 400/800 connects to the Internet via 4 or 8 internal 5G modems and/or Ethernet. To use Ethernet for your Internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable to the Wired 1 port.
  2. If using physical SIM cards, insert them into the SIM slots, modems will connect using the physical SIMs by default, but can be switched to use their built-in Teradek Data eSIMs, see the modem configuration section below.

Connect via Wireless (Wi-Fi)

NOTE: ##### represents the last five digits of the Link unit's serial number.

  1. Scan for wireless networks from your device and select the network name corresponding to one of Link's wireless networks: Link-400-##### or Link-800-##### . 
  2. Enter the password link#####.
  3. Open your web browser and enter 192.168.10.1 to bring up the login page for the Link's Web UI.
  4. Log in to the web UI using the default password (link#####).

Connect via Ethernet

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer or a network switch to Link’s Wired 2 Ethernet port. By default Link assigns addresses to any device connected to Wired 2 using DHCP.
  2. Open a web browser and navigate to Link’s IP address 192.168.10.1.
  3. Log in to the web UI using the default password (link#####).

Configuration

Cloud configuration

Link 400 and 800 utilize Teradek Cloud to provide a bonded internet uplink over all connected modems. In order to use it, you must connect to a cloud account. This can all be done from Link's web UI.

  1. After opening the web UI Navigate to the Teradek Cloud page located under System Settings.
  2. If Link is connected to the Internet, you will see a 5 digit code. Copy it, and follow the link to My.Teradek.Cloud.
  3. Log in to My.Teradek.Cloud, you can create an account if you don't already have one. See My Teradek Cloud for more details.
  1. With My.Teradek.Cloud open to the WAN Bonding page, click the '+ Add Device' button at the top right of the page
  2. Enter the code from step 2 above and click Continue.
  3. Your device will be authenticated with My.Teradek.Cloud. If successful you will see a confirmation dialog.

Once Connected, your Link will use all connected interfaces to create one super-robust Internet connection.

 

Additional Configuration

Link's Configuration interface contains all of the device's status and configuration information. The following pages are available, you can find more info at their respective pages, linked below.

  • Network
    • Bonding - Displays info about the bonded connection, including data rates, tunnel connection status, and per-connection metrics.
    • Bond Settings - This page contains the Bonding settings, when connected to My.Teradek.Cloud these settings will be managed remotely
    • Network Interfaces - All modem, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi configuration is contained in the Network Interfaces page
    • DHCP - the DHCP page contains settings for the device's DHCP server, which assigns IP addresses to clients connected to Ethernet or Wi-Fi
    • Internet Check & Speed Test - Use the Internet Check and Speed Test pages to test your connectivity
  • System Settings
    • Teradek Cloud - As noted earlier, the Teradek Cloud page allows you to connect to your Cloud account
    • Security - The Security page contains settings for HTTPS, password, etc.
    • Date & Time - Manage date & time settings.
    • Licenses - View your WAN bonding license information
